It's holiday time! Got festive parties to attend? Family times to be had? These celebrations are often as fatiguing and stressful as they are fun, and it's our hips that bear these burdens as we overextend our lives. Often referred to by yoga instructors as the “junk drawer” of the body, our hips are considered a site of storage for emotional and physical stress. It is widely recognized that stress can physically manifest its ugly head in our neck and shoulders, but it is within the largest joint in our bodies where we bury emotions we are not quite ready to confront, or of whose existence we are not even aware. Have you ever experienced anxiety or restlessness in a half pigeon or felt the need to burst into tears in the middle or directly after a yoga class? There you go. And there are a multitude of other reasons as to why our hips may feel tight – sitting for long periods of time, avid cycling or running, even plain old genetics comes into play. This workshop is designed to help you unlock those hips with a full on sweaty flow sprinkled with lengthy hip opening asanas like Ardha Kapotasana (Half Pigeon Pose), Gomukhasana (Cow Face Pose), Hanumanasana (Monkey Pose, otherwise known as “the splits”), and Mandukasana (Frog Pose), so you can greet every relative and attend every holiday shindig feeling centered, open and restored. Come take some time for yourself and join Jessica for some well-deserved “me time.” Let's give those hips some love.
