This workshop will provide a basic overview of Ayurvedic philosophy, how it correlates to yoga, and tips on how to move, eat, and live according to one's unique constitution.

Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a journal, and pen. No prior yoga knowledge necessary.

The workshop will cover:
• Basic Ayurvedic Principles
• Discovering Your Constitution & Imbalances
• Ayurvedic Diet & Lifestyle Tips

The Skillful Chataranga w/ Meg McNeal

Chaturanga dandasana is that dreaded pose that comes between plank and upward facing dog. It's the pose that may hurt your shoulders, that you swoop through as a transition, or that you skillfully bypass in hopes that the teacher doesn't notice. Or maybe you LOVE chaturanga!
Whatever your relationship is to the pose, this 90 minute workshop with Meg McNeal will go over the principles of alignment in chaturanga, the "trifecta of integration" that can unlock the secret to a sustainable chaturanga and other poses (like inversions), and the art of jumping back during your vinyasa practice.

Bring your friends, bring your questions, this workshop is for all levels and will transform your practice!

Restorative Yoga Workshop w/ Diana Ross-Gotta

Often Restorative Yoga is viewed as a practice with a lot of requirements -- space, time, props. However, with just a few household items, it can become an accessible practice. Integrating Restorative Yoga into my daily life has had profound effects in my mental wellbeing as well as my physical practice. As a restorative teacher, my goal is to make this a practice that anyone can embrace and bring into their life.

In this 2 hour workshop, we will move through a restorative sequence using minimal props to yield maximum relaxation. Participants will need to bring 1 blanket (any size is fine) and 1 bath towel to use during the sequence.

This workshop is open to all levels, including those new to yoga.

The Site: Metta Earth Institute is a non-profit educational retreat center in Lincoln, Vermont. With 158 beautiful acres, we are nestled in a bowl of mountains with stunning views in all directions. Meadows, pastureland, and horticultural fields are interspersed with hardwood and evergreen forest, old orchards, stonewalls, seasonal streams, and an enormous variety of wild life habitat. Walking and hiking places abound, and a magnificent, pure river with clear pools and waterfalls is just a few minutes walk down the road. The center is based on a small scale diversified farm operating an acre-sized CSA and retreat garden along with Milking Shorthorn cows, Icelandic sheep, and heritage breed chickens. Other Metta Earth  spaces include a sunny dining and kitchen space, a light filled yoga room, a heritage barn, a greenhouse, and gardens.

Living at Metta Earth: Meals are vegetarian and are lovingly prepared with seasonal, local and organic foods. Much of our food comes from our acre organic garden and farmstead, while the rest is sourced from local organic farmers in the bioregion. We are able to accommodate many special dietary needs, so please let us know your requests ahead of time. Being close to the farm, participants have the opportunity to learn about harvesting, cooking, putting food by, and other aspects of organic, local food.

Hip Love Workshop

It's holiday time! Got festive parties to attend? Family times to be had? These celebrations are often as fatiguing and stressful as they are fun, and it's our hips that bear these burdens as we overextend our lives. Often referred to by yoga instructors as the “junk drawer” of the body, our hips are considered a site of storage for emotional and physical stress.

SLOW and DEEP: YIN

As New Yokers we are notorious for walking fast, moving quick, and getting things done. In fact, we're experts. Often, the hardest thing for us to do is slow down. And I mean, take a pause, notice the breath, and BE with it, without needing to change or alter the present circumstance or outcome. It is when we slow down, though, that layers of our body armor soften and we are able to sink in to the depths of our true, authentic, real selves. In this YIN workshop, we will address the layers beneath the physical body by holding postures for an extended period of time to melt away tension and liberate the flow of qi that moves through the meridians of the subtle body.

Dharma Series Session 2: For Recovering Type A Personalities (A.K.A Every New Yorker)

You like your smoothie blended a particular way. Your laundry folded neatly. Peanut butter sandwiches cut in four perfect squares (no thank you, triangles). Trains to arrive on time. Your yoga class to involve your favorite pose but not a top-20 chart song. Okay, maybe just that J. Bieber song. Kidding.

But, really. You like things a certain, particular way. And perhaps you get a bit, let's say, ruffled if things go astray....

Type A Personalities...this one is for you.

Join Be Shakti in this one hour discussion on the nature of the heart.
